Show & Tell Tuesday: What's In A Name?

Today is Show N Tell Tuesday! I am linking up with one of my very favorite bloggers, Andrea at Momfessionals. Today we are sharing how our kiddos got their names.

Meet our family! hahaha... One kid not looking and another one giving us the stare. :) It's rare to get a picture of all of us looking and smiling. haha.

We had a long list of names we both liked. We really only agreed on names for a girl. The names for a boy were a different story. We didn't agree on any names for a boy. haha...

Kinsley Jade Dyer

When we found out we were having a girl, we almost automatically knew we would call her Kinsley. There is no special story behind it, she isn't named after anyone, we just both really liked that name. Then, my nephew mentioned the name Jade. I really liked it and almost wanted to call her Jade, but we both agreed that Kinsley was our favorite. This is when we decided that Jade would be her middle name. To this day, my nephew says he picked her middle name. :) So, we decided on the name Kinsley Jade. She was born on February 15, 2011. It also happens to be my Papa's birthday (my dad's dad). She came on her due date. This girl is my world!!! I love being her mama!!! She's sweet, smart, beautiful, motherly, funny and has such a sweet heart. She loves her family, dogs, and stuff friends through and through. We love having this little girl in our lives!

Witten Matthew Dyer

When we found out our second baby was a boy, we knew we were in trouble. We had never agreed on a boy name. Eek... This was gonna be some work and compromise. :) I loved the names Grayson, Nicholas, Noah and Matthew. He liked the names Chandler, Channing, Bryson and he took liked Matthew. However, on my side of the family it's full of girls with only a couple of boys sprinkled in. One of my cousin's name is Matthew, so I really didn't want to step in and choose Matthew for our son too. Even though that was probably my husband and my first choice. I even talked to my cousin about it and he didn't mind at all and said, he would be flattered, but I figured my aunt may mind. He was THE Matthew... lol, so we chose not to use Matthew as his first name. So, after hearing many of names we decided on the name Bryson Matthew, but at the last minute changed it to Witten Matthew. My brother-in-law had sent a message with boy names  just being silly. Witten was on the list and I just liked it. It took a little convincing to Beau, but he liked it too.  The number one question I used to get asked was, "Are you guys Cowboy fans?" We were in fact Cowboy fans (Go Cowboys!), but did not name our son Witten because of Jason Witten. However, we do like him and what a great role model? But still, it was very annoying. We think Witten fits him well.  He was born on September 4, 2012. Just one day later than my Grandpa's birthday (my mom's dad). This boy brings a smile to my face daily. I love being his mama and having him in our family. He is sweet, head strong, smart beyond words, funny and so loving. He loves his family and his sister through and through. We are blessed to have this sweet boy in our lives.

So, we now have Kinsley Jade who is four years old and Witten Matthew who is two years old. They argue just like every other brother and sister, but they love each other through and through. I hope they grow up to be the best of friends, just like they are now.

  1. Love your kids names! I had never heard the name Witten before and I just LOVE it. It's almost poetic or something. Can't put my finger on it, but goes very well with Kinsley.
